The name "Outernet" is conjectural; there is no official source for the name.
If an official name is found, it should be replaced with that name.
Main Page

The Outernet (placeholder name[1]) is a subspace existing parallel to the Internet, where animated characters uploaded on Newgrounds and other websites live.

It serves at the main setting for the events of AvA Season 2 and Season 3, as well as the first half of The King.

The Outernet and the Internet are separated by a grid-like barrier, with each cell leading to a specific device connected to the Internet through its IP address. It is the equivalent to real life Earth for stick figures.

History[]

Not much is known about how the Outernet came to be or how it was created. One theory is that it came into existence alongside the Internet's creation.

For many years it was untouched by the wider web separated by a black and white grid-like barrier. The land was covered by a thick grey fog, and any form of Flash animation characters created by humans got their life energy transferred from their host websites into the Outernet, becoming Stick Figures. As long as the files exist on their host websites, the characters continue to live within the Outernet.

When victim's rocket breached the barrier of the Outernet, it created a massive shockwave that altered the nature of the Outernet and the barrier, which resulted in the creation HTTP Portals to all computers and websites contented to the Internet. The grey fog that covered the land dissipated and created the blue checkerboard-like sky ceiling of the Outernet.

victim and another stick figure, Mitsi, would then found a company known as Rocket Corp. in 2007. It would quickly rise to one of the top tech powerhouses in the Outernet.

Sometime in 2011, an event would occur, causing a bunch of stick figures to disappear from the Outernet to reappear in Newgrounds, where most of them then died. With Rocket Corp. CEO Mitsi being among the casualities and lack of comments from victim, Rocket Corp. would reach new lows.

In 2018, a dark beam was seen reaching the sky for a bit, getting news attention. They saw a flash of green light not long after, before the ground around the unnamed city shook[2]. victim would then be made aware of the incident not too long after, making him start his hunt of The Chosen One.[3]

Trivia[]

  • The complete geographical, governmental, military and law enforcement scope of the Outernet is unknown due to the little information given about it and what little parts of it have been shown.
  • The Outernet might be based on or inspired by the world from the fundraiser animations due to their similarities.
  • It has been implied that inhabitants of the Outernet don't actually know where they come from, nor that they are created and uploaded by humans, as evidenced by pictures and newspaper pages in Animator vs. Animation 11.
  • Despite originally showing only stick figures, specifically the solid-headed kind that the Fighting Stick Figures belong to, the Outernet is home to not only many different types of stickmen, but any kind of animated character that was uploaded to the Internet.
  • Due to scenes in Animator vs. Animation Season 2, we can infer that time runs faster in the Outernet, for reasons such as The Chosen One leaving ALANSPC at 1:58, and it still being 1:58 later in the episode. However, this could also be an animation error.
