noogai3,[5] commonly referred to as his real-life name of "Alan Becker,"[1][2][3] and also known as "The Animator,"[6] is the titular overarching protagonist of the Animator vs. Animation franchise. He is portrayed by Alan Becker in every installment where his likeness is visible.

noogai3 is the creator of victim, The Chosen One, The Dark Lord, The Second Coming, and many other programs and animations. He served as the main protagonist of the first four animations due to constantly fighting against the stick figures he creates, or in victim's case, torturing them. This lasts until Animator vs. Animation 4, where he understands that stick figures are sentient beings and finally makes peace by working a deal out with The Second Coming in exchange for teaching him how to draw.

Appearance

noogai3 is a slim, cleanly shaven man with dark hair cut short. He wears glasses with black rectangular frames. At home he wears T-shirts, loose trousers, and socks. He sometimes wears a black wristwatch.

His physical appearance is rarely shown. His cursor is often seen to represent him.

In the Outernet or any 3D space, the cursor is more angular and significantly larger depending on the view.

Personality

In his teenage years, noogai3 has proven to be a potential psychopath who could not fully understand the consequences of his actions or how evil they actually are. Due to viewing stick figures as nothing more than a game who lack sentience or awareness of the pain he causes them, he had no trouble making victim go through numerous torture methods on a constant basis for nothing more than the satisfaction it brings him to be able to "play god" with a creation of his own.

This not only shows that noogai3 finds sadistic joy derived from the agony he caused victim, but also suggested a innate disgust and/or hatred against stick figures in general given how he never once hesitated to brutalize victim in ways that would be considered to be "inhumane" to any living creature or bothered to let up on the torture, going through it for nine months straight without getting bored until victim became apathetic and unresponsive due to the repeated torment breaking his spirit.

Another interpretation is that noogai3 did not fully understand or was aware that the stick figures he created were sentient and able to feel emotions. After the repeated creation of and deletion of victim, noogai3 performed many different tests and experiments to see if he could replicate what happened before, to figure out what is causing his stick figure to become self-aware and sentient, and how it reacted to different stimuli and responses. He was also completely unaware that each time he recreated, deleted, and recreated victim, that he brought victim back from the dead with all his memories of his various experiences intact.

After victim managed to escape his computer, noogai3 chose to forget him and moved onto a bigger challenge to satisfy his boredom by creating a stick figure who could actually fight back. After creating and naming the new stick figure "The Chosen One," he immediately regrets this decision as the stick figure near-instantly destroys his computer. This shows that he only cared for his personal belongings, refusing to acknowledge that his own misfortune is a result of his bad karma coming back to haunt him.

He is also opportunistic because after subduing The Chosen One, noogai3 uses the stick's power for his personal benefit by enslaving said stick figure and using him as a pop-up blocker for four years straight without once considering how he essentially is no different than a slave owner. He also has no problem using stick figures against their own kind because he created another stick figure, The Dark Lord, for the sole purpose of destroying The Chosen One when he escaped noogai3's control. He only bothered to help The Dark Lord as long as he remained loyal to his mission, and did not care for him any more than his previous creations with no interest of whether or not he survived.

Another negative trait of noogai3 is that he's unable to see the bigger picture or realize the intelligence of stick figures. His neglect is what allowed victim to escape confinement, and is why he didn't anticipate that The Chosen One and The Dark Lord would recognize him as a shared enemy due to his apathy towards them. This resulted in them completely destroying his computer, and their rampage in Newgrounds following this would severely damage the internet and ruin victim's new life, eventually setting him on a path to obtain retribution against his creator and fellow creation.

After getting a new computer, noogai3 has become more apprehensive of using/playing with stick figures due to him not wanting the past to repeat itself. Over the course of three years, he becomes less paranoid due to the calm and simply decides to only work on his animation skills, but after seeing his latest animation, The Second Coming, playing around with four other stick figures on his desktop, he decides not to take any chances and deletes them all immediately. However, The Second Coming is unable to be deleted and fights back, using his own animations to destroy the computer. noogai3 is taken aback by the fact that his creation is making drawings better than he can. This causes him to hesitate for the first time ever against a stick figure.

This, combined with the realization that The Second Coming can talk and thus, is self-aware with emotions, causes noogai3 to finally reflect upon his past actions and realize that The Second Coming only retaliated because he was destroying what he loved. After refreshing his friends, the two come to an agreement and work together towards creating animations, greatly increasing noogai3's skills and use of time.

noogai3's change of heart continued when he answered Yellow's plea for help for The Chosen One. After that, he and the Stick Gang have been on good terms, often playing games together. The Stick Gang have destroyed parts of ALANSPC by accident on many occasions, and have twice donated absurdly large amounts of money to fundraisers. It can be assumed that noogai3 does not punish the Stick Gang very severely for these misdeeds, as they would not continue to do them if they received severe punishments.

He also treats the Stick Gang as his own family, having panicked and accidentally renamed victim to H4CK3R because he believed that Yellow was in danger.

Also, due to his discovery that stick figures were sentient, he was mainly on the defensive when fighting H4CK3R and only attacked him in ways that would incapacitate him and not injure him, although this could technically be attributed to the fact that H4CK3R overwhelmed him.

Powers & Abilities

  • Life Creation: Many of noogai3's drawings come to life, sometimes unintentionally. He is specialized in drawing stick figures.
  • Object Manipulation: noogai3 can control or pick up anything he selects on his PC or phone, including the stick figures.
  • Durability: His cursor is invulnerable to most attacks, excluding the ViraBots' virus abilities and H4CK3R's attacks, as shown when it was unaffected by The Chosen One's laser. It becomes larger and more durable in the Outernet due to Yellow's code.
  • Competent Fighter: Despite only using a cursor to attack, he can hold his own in fights, which is shown in Animator vs. Animation 8 when he faces the Dark Lord and Animation vs. Animation 12 where he lasts for a decent amount of time against a newly-empowered H4CK3R.
  • Context Menu: By right-clicking with his mouse, he can open a context menu below and to the right of his cursor which he can attack with, as seen in Animator vs. Animation 8 where he uses it to slam The Dark Lord into the sea.
  • Unlimited Movement: He can move the cursor freely to anywhere he wants.
  • Riding & Flight: He can use his cursor to assist the stick figures in flying, also helping The Chosen One fight The Dark Lord by letting him ride on the cursor briefly.
  • Mouse Expertise: He has seemingly great precision when clicking or dragging.
  • Cursor Hand: noogai3 can seemingly change his cursor's form from a pointer to a hand at will, seen in The Floor is Lava - An Actual Short and Juggling - An Actual Short.
  • Weapon Crafting: noogai3 can create his own weapons, defenses or even animations by drawing them.
  • Programs Assist: noogai3 can use his sentient programs for assistance.
  • Program Termination: noogai3 can use Task Manager to stop (delete) certain programs/enemies with ease.
  • Entity Remover: noogai3 can use Quick Keys to select and delete certain Adobe Flash Player entities.
  • Cursor Restoration: noogai3 can revive the cursor if destroyed by accessing settings with keyboard shortcuts, but this takes some time and can be prevented by destroying the Windows menu.
  • Text Speech: noogai3 can communicate with The Second Coming by using the the text box tool in Adobe Animate.
  • Typing: noogai3 can type really fast and has the ability to navigate through his computer only using keyboard. When The Second Coming destroys the cursor in Animator vs. Animation 4, he was able to restore the cursor using Keyboard.
  • PC Unplugging: In desperate situations, such as when H4CK3R was about to destroy all his files, noogai3 can unplug his PC in the real world to shut it down, turning the surroundings in the PC dark and grey and preventing any further damage from being done.

Weaknesses

noogai3's main weakness is his lack of care for the other computer programs.

For example, in Animator vs. Animation 3, he showed that he did not care about what happened to any of his computer programs while they were being beaten. He did show care for AIM in Animator vs. Animation 2[7], but this could have only been because of the fact that his AOL chat bar would have closed if AOL Instant Messenger died.

Another one of his weaknesses is that in the past, he was unable to hold his own in combat. As seen in Animator vs. Animation 2, The Chosen One easily defeated noogai3 in one on one combat. But as time goes on, he became quite a competent fighter, even managing to hold his own when facing The Dark Lord in AvA 8.

Another weakness is that he cannot repair his cursor if they are destroyed. When his cursor is destroyed, he cannot resume battle until he gets it back. If the Windows menu has also been destroyed, as seen in "The Virus," he cannot regain his mouse and is unable to fight.

Finally, noogai3 seemingly cannot always control his own ability to give individual life to his drawings, as shown when he unintentionally brought a Hangman drawing to life.

  • noogai3 is usually represented in series as a cursor rather than his actual physical appearance. He is only seen as the cursor in Animator vs. Animation episodes 1-3, he's represented as his cursor in both the Influencer Arc and "Fireworks", and even in "Victim" and "The Box" the cursor is used than his actual physical appearance.
  • His actual physical appearance is usually shown from the back or the top of his head, but is seen from the front in Feel Better - An Actual Short and Hacker.
  • noogai3 is the first character to appear in the Animator vs. Animation Franchise.
  • The name "noogai3" first appeared in Animator vs. Animation 2. Prior to this, he was known only as "The Animator."
  • noogai3 appears to distaste pop-ups, as he used The Chosen One as a pop-up blocker.
  • Despite being the series' namesake, he rarely appears in the series.
  • His cursor somehow manages to move in the third dimension. How this works is unknown.
  • noogai3, programmer021, victim, and shepherd are the only characters in the Animator vs. Animation franchise to have their name canonically spelt with a lowercase first letter.
  • noogai, Gold and Purple are the only characters who have been seen young. Young noogai has been shown in “Victim”, a young Gold is briefly seen in "The King", whereas a young Purple can be seen in “Note Block Universe”.
  • He is the only character in "The Showdown" to not be featured in the thumbnail.
  • In the Outernet, thanks to Yellow's code, the cursor is incredibly durable and takes a massive amount of effort to defeat, needing to be stabbed by four of The Dark Lord's ViraBlades and an army of 49 ViraBots at once, but on ALANSPC, his cursor is relatively brittle, as it is easily defeated by one VIraBot and breaks into multiple pieces when H4CK3R punches and uses his abilities on it.
