King Orange[2], also known as King, is a tall, orange natural stick figure who is the father of the late Gold and the adoptive father of Purple.

He serves as the main antagonist of Animation vs. Minecraft Shorts Season 3, his goal being to obtain the Minecraft Game Icon and use its power to eradicate Minecraft from existence. This is fueled by his immense hatred of the game due to his son having been killed by a fatal error involving a Minecraft simulation.

After realizing how much pain he caused to so many people both in and out of Minecraft, including The Second Coming, the Fighting Stick Figures, their in-game allies, and most of all Purple, King Orange understood the full consequences of his actions and chose to turn over a new leaf with Purple at his side, freeing him from his tragic past and finally being at peace.

Appearance[]

King Orange is a tall, dark orange, natural stick figure who is usually seen wearing a crown. He is around 3 blocks tall (regular stick figures stand at 2.5 blocks). Given that each block in Minecraft is one meter tall, King stands at about three meters tall.

Personality[]

Starting from King Orange's first debut in "Parkour", it is shown that he is a feared leader. This is shown by his removal of the AI, and thus incapacitation, of a Piglin Brute who failed to stop Green from escaping. He recruited Purple and had him to do his bidding because of his obsession of the Minecraft Game Icon. He is also very tricky, making Blue and Yellow fellow "kings" when in reality he's keeping them in the Nether so that his plans wouldn't be exposed. An opportunist, when Blue, Green and Yellow had him at bowpoint only to be deprived of their weapons by the removal of the Minecraft icon, he immediately attacked and defeated the helpless trio. He repeated this in "The King" when Yellow was distracted by the Titan Ravager to retrieve his staff.

King Orange becomes even more ruthless the moment he obtains the Minecraft Game Icon. The first action he does when obtaining it was to blast the roof off his castle, killing several Piglin Brutes in the process. He's also very greedy, as he betrays Purple from sharing the power of the Minecraft Game Icon with him. He also appears to be extremely arrogant, throwing less powerful yet still useful tools away (the Command Block) and failing to account for how they could be used against him. He later realized this and destroyed the netherite block Red used after reclaiming his staff to prevent it from being used against him, and destroyed the staff that Yellow created. He eventually begins to overcome this, however, immediately destroying both objects once the opportunity arises so that they could not be further used to oppose him.

Surprisingly, it is possible he may have a heart, or prefers to fight "fair" to a limited degree. While fighting Yellow, Blue and Green, he opted to attempt imprisoning the three after defeating them instead of killing them when he was fully capable of doing so. Later, while fighting Red and his Monster School allies, he again did not kill any of them despite being able to easily do so with the Minecraft Game Icon. Furthermore, the Dark Mobs only pinned down his enemies once they were defeated.[3] However, as he gets closer and closer to achieving his goal, he becomes markedly more ruthless, absorbing all of the Minecraft mobs without hesitation and blasting all of the stick figures with his corruptive attack when on the brink of victory. After realizing the error of his ways, he regretted this, however.

King Orange also appears to have a taste for music, carrying around Pigstep and Mellohi in his inventory. While not confirmed, it is entirely possible that he has more.

It is revealed that his motivation for all of his actions stems from his intense hatred of Minecraft itself due to his son, Gold, having been lost during an accidental collapse while playing in a Minecraft Booth at a town fair. This loss and pain grew so unbearable that King Orange wished to get even with the game that took his son by destroying the world of Minecraft entirely and thus erasing it from existence. It was only when Purple tried to stop him and he saw familiarities between him and Gold that he realized the error of his ways and helped right his wrongs.

After giving up his plan, King Orange seems markedly more happy, treating Purple like his second son and behaving far more amicably towards the gang.

As one of the main villains of the series, it may not be a coincidence that he and The Second Coming are similar colors.

Powers, Abilities, & Weapons[]

King Orange is the most powerful natural stick figure in the series so far and one of the biggest antagonists, being well-known as one of the two most powerful villains in the series along with The Dark Lord (and possibly victim). Even without his iconic staff, he is still physically stronger and more intelligent (most of the time) than other stick figures of his kind, such as Purple and the Fighting Stick Figures.

Abilities[]

King Orange has a variety of abilities at his arsenal, even at his weakest, or without the Minecraft Game Icon, he is a formidable foe.

Physical Abilities[]

  • Fighting: King Orange, while not part of the Fighting Stick Figures, seems to be just as physically capable and agile as them due to being a full-grown adult with his larger stature enough to make up for his lack of experience in fighting. This is best demonstrated when effortlessly throwing Green across the room, pinning Blue to the ground with a single foot, and dodging the Warden's attacks repeatedly. Despite this, he is shown to be significantly weaker without his Staff or the Minecraft Game Icon.
  • Intelligence: Not only is King a capable fighter, but he is also shown to be very perceptive. He is shown to absorb knowledge like a sponge, developing a formula for a black hole capable of destroying Minecraft and showing a mastery of command blocks just by pouring over books on the subjects, although the desire to avenge his son, Gold, is known for being an extremely powerful motivator for him. He is also well-versed with Minecraft as a whole, as well as the Stick Gang's various quirks and personalities, distracting Yellow with a fake staff and Blue with nether warts.
  • Craftiness: King is quite tricky, taking advantage of any opportunity to seize the advantage such as when he was able to overwhelm Blue, Yellow and Green after they lost their weapons and the Heroic Pig in "The Ultimate Weapon" and stealing Yellow's staff when he was distracted in "The King".
  • Manipulation: King Orange has been shown to be a master manipulator, using Purple as a pawn to get the Minecraft Game Icon, bribing the Piglins into assisting him with a plan that would cause their demise, and tricking Yellow and Blue into joining him in his throne room to keep his plan under wraps after seemingly saving the Plains Village from the Titan Ravagers.
  • Leadership: King is depicted as a somewhat competent leader, assembling a legion of Piglins to do his bidding, or else he might turn them into lifeless statues, and has shown his power over his loyal second, Purple, storming over to him and ordering him to retrieve the Minecraft Game Icon, which Purple did immediately.
  • Durability: Even without his staff, King is an extremely durable fighter, able to survive several hits from the Warden and continue fighting.
  • Adaptability: King Orange has also shown to be quite adaptable, which he uses to his benefit during his fights with the Stick Gang and their allies. With his powerful staff, he summons different blocks to both attack the heroes and defend himself with, opting for stronger and stronger attacks when facing a more powerful opponent. Examples: he uses obsidian blocks, fire charges, and arrow volleys when facing the Stick Gang, but uses netherite blocks while facing the Warden and bedrock during his duel with Herobrine, and upon learning that he can absorb the Steve Clones, he charged Herobrine to do the same thing to him.
  • Extensive Minecraft Knowledge: After beginning his quest to avenge his son, King extensively studied Minecraft, and as such, has a vast knowledge of the game's attributes. His knowledge extends beyond that of Minecraft's more commonly known qualities, having learned of Minecraft's urban legends and folklore which allowed him to discover the Minecraft Game Icon.
  • Leaping: King Orange can jump over the Warden.

With the Minecraft Game Icon[]

  • Minecraft Manipulation: Even with just a single Minecraft Game Icon, King Orange has immense control over the various aspects of Minecraft, which only grew stronger after combining it with a second:
    • Creative Mode: The Minecraft Game Icon grants King Orange Creative Mode, which grants him:
      • Extreme Strength: Creative Mode highly increases King Orange's strength, so much so that he can casually block attacks from the Warden with a single hand.
      • Nigh-Invincibility: Creative Mode makes King Orange basically invincible, with Minecraft Mysteries stating it grants him complete protection from death.
      • Flight: With Creative Mode, King Orange has the ability to fly at high speeds and levitate.
      • Block Manipulation: Creative Mode allows King Orange to quickly manipulate, create and destroy large amounts of any block, allowing him to create structures, projectiles and more.
        • Giant Weapons: By manipulating blocks in a certain way, King Orange was able to create large netherite swords, bows, and more.
      • Items, Effects & Commands: Using Creative Mode, King Orange has the ability to spawn virtually anything from Minecraft at his disposal, which includes items, such as fire charges and arrows. He has also shown himself able to create a shield around him without using commands.
      • Command Resistance: According to Minecraft Mysteries, Creative Mode is unable to be removed via Commands due to superceding them. While commands do still work on the user to some extent such as King affecting Purple with Slowness and Weakness, the user is able to somewhat resist them, with King utilizing his abilities to resist Yellow holding him with his own staff and force him to target Red instead.
    • Dark Mobs: Related to his ability to summon mobs, King Orange was able to create dark mimics of Minecraft mobs, such as the Warden, Monster School mobs and the Titan Ravager.
      • Hybridization: After fusing both Minecraft blocks together, King displayed the ability to create hybrid mobs, creating a fusion of a Warden and a Titan Ravager which successfully overpowered the original Titan Ravager.
  • Black Hole: Harnessing the Game Icon with the Staff, King Orange can create black holes capable of removing the entire game from existence over a long period of time.
    • An exponentially stronger black hole is capable of being created with two Game Icons merged and being harnessed by the Staff. It appears there is no way to stop the black hole manually, and the only way it was stopped was when it was brought through a nether portal from Minecraft to ALANSPC, causing the fused icons to split, and the destruction to be undone.
  • Mob Absorption: An ability he attained during his battle with Herobrine, King Orange has the ability to absorb mobs utilizing his staff, allowing him to nigh-instantly defeat any mob regardless of power. Even mobs such as Herobrine, the Warden and the Titan Ravager are only able to briefly resist, with Herobrine only initially escaping via using the nearby Red as a host. Teleportation is ineffective against this technique, with Endermen being unable to teleport more than inches away before being absorbed.

Weapons[]

His primary weapon is his staff. According to Alan and DJ's commentary on "The Warden", the staff is designed to extract the power of the block it's holding and amplifies it towards the entity wielding the weapon. Its abilities vary depending on what block is being used:

Purple Hollow Head Drawing error
  • King Orange's Perfected Staff
    • Command Block: Allows large speed manipulation of commands, allowing King Orange to build quickly, set certain properties on blocks and mobs, and manipulate objects. It is unknown if the commands have to first be memorized by the user before being usable, or if commands can be used and mastered instantly. It should be noted that the speed at which commands are inputted is slower than wielding the Minecraft Game Icon.
    • Minecraft Game Icon: The staff gives the user power over not only the original creation powers of the Minecraft Icon, but also seems to enhance its destructive powers as well. More info on superpowers here.
      • Fused Minecraft Game Icon: Combining two Minecraft Game Icons increases its original power exponentially. It's not yet known how much its power increases from one Game Icon to a fused Game Icon.
    • Gold Block: Turns the staff into an effective bludgeon. It is strong enough to break obsidian in a single strike and even deflect a Warden's attacks. Other notable effects is a strong knockback effect, as well as the generation of electric shocks (possibly due to gold's exceptional ability as a conductor in real life).
    • Obsidian, Diamond, Emerald, and Iron Blocks: King is never seen using any of these blocks with the staff, but are shown during "The King" while the titular character is trying to find the most powerful block for his staff. It is logical to assume that they can do similar things to netherite and gold, acting as a solid weapon offensively and a sturdy shield defensively, albeit with varying levels of effectiveness. Obsidian, diamond, and emerald—in that order—are ranked lower than netherite, but higher than gold, which is itself higher than iron.
      • These blocks would be used later on, in the episode "Lucky Block Staff". Their specific uses, as well as the uses of many other blocks, can be found here.
    • Netherite Block: Turns the staff into a significantly stronger bludgeon, but the extreme power of netherite adds significant weight to the staff. It's powerful enough to send those who normally shrug off powerful attacks flying as Red demonstrates by striking King Orange with it, even destroying several blocks in the way. In "The Raid", it was shown to be capable of killing a Dark Warden and a Dark Titan Ravager in one hit, along with the shockwave destroying an entire large trident made of netherite.

Appearances[]

Trivia[]

  • King Orange has a similar color scheme to The Second Coming, who is sometimes also called Orange. Because of that, he may be sometimes confused with him, but there are also noticeable differences upon their appearance. King Orange has a duller shade of orange than The Second Coming. King Orange also has a body similar to the Fighting Stick Figures, where The Second Coming has a big hollow head and rounded foot instead of a small solid circle head and plain foot. Other than that, King Orange also wears a crown and is much taller than the other stick figures.
  • It took a while for Alan to figure out what color King Orange supposed to be. He was supposed to make him grey but the color blends on his background and he was also supposed to be light purple, but Alan thought that it will just make people think he is like Thanos, which he didn't like.[4]
  • King Orange is the third tallest stick figure, first one being Primal & second one being Backrooms Entity.
  • His name was confirmed to be King Orange on Discord,[2] and he’s referred to as “King Orange” in AvG reactions and other official videos.
    • Despite this, his name is shown as just “King” in a command block used on him in "The Raid", which could just be his Minecraft username since that's how it works in the game.
  • DJ from AvG Reacts started to feel bad for King Orange after watching his backstory and was fully on his side while watching the entire video.
  • Alan stated that the color of the stick figure the King married is "like a very neon yellow."[5]
