The Cave Spider Colony is a group of cave spiders that are the primary antagonists of "Cave Spider Roller Coaster". They return four years later in "You Shall Not Pass", having turned into a Cave Spider-Wither Skeleton Colony after the colony allied with the Wither King.

Cave Spider Roller Coaster - AVM Shorts Episode 14[]
After the events of "The Dolphin Kingdom", The Second Coming and the Fighting Stick Figures attempt to find their way out of a maze of abandoned mineshafts, in order to reach a portal back home. Blue, Yellow and Green hear echoing noises throughout the mineshaft and survey their surroundings, noticing that The Second Coming and Red appear to have vanished. Surprised, they look around in fear, before a cave spider grabs Yellow and captures.
Following the creature, Blue and Green stumble upon a mob of spiders, feeding their Queen. Green baits the spiders with his fishing rod, whilst Blue hurries over to his unconscious comrades and tries to shake them awake, only to discover that all of them have been paralyzed and inflicted with poisoning, leaving them with only half health. Blue gives them each a drink of milk from a bucket, and they all wake up with a start. Blue grabs Yellow and they flee back down the same tunnel they entered by. Green jumps down from the wall, rolls, them jumps up and follows his comrades.
To escape the army of spiders, they share a ride in singular minecart. However, the arthropods persist in chasing after them, riding carts of their own. With much struggle warding the spiders away, the stick figures fall down an unfinished part railway, barely escaping thanks to a few spare chicken spawn eggs Red had in his inventory, gliding to a nearby platform with a portal located on it. Unfortunately, a single survivor informs the Spider Queen of the stick figures escape, who immediately runs off in a last-ditch effort to consume her escaped prey.
The Queen reaches and confronts the fugitives, besting all of them in combat in a matter of seconds. When all hope seems lost, a random Wither emerges from the portal and fights the queen. This distraction allows the sticks to escape, entering the portal and battle their way through various nether mobs before reaching the portal back to the desktop.

You Shall Not Pass[]
The colony returns, having apparently repopulated. The Queen has also became friends with the Wither off-screen, thus adding a group of Wither Skeletons to the colony. Alongside their leaders, they try to track down and kill the Stick Gang, though Yellow's staff proves too strong for them; with one attack, Yellow collapses the bridge they were on: one Wither Skeleton and Cave Spider are send plummeting to their deaths alongside their leaders, while the rest of the colony watches.
Powers & Abilities[]
Cave spiders posses several abilities unique to them, even more so than normal spiders.
- Poisonous Venom - Cave spiders have a special venom with which they inflict their prey with. It is shown to cause paralysis in addition to the normal Minecraft poison status effect.
- Rapid Web Creation - Just like regular spiders, cave spiders can spin webs at a rapid pace, using them both as a means to restrict their victims' movement and as a substitute for grappling hooks.
- Surface Scaling - Cave spiders can travel across walls.
- Hivemind - Cave spiders seem to have a hive mentality when performing tasks, in a similar way to ants. This allows them to execute task quickly and effectively at a moments notice without any prior communication.
- Swordsmanship - Wither skeletons are skilled swordsmen.
Trivia[]
- It's possible that the cave spider shown telling the Queen of the Stick Gang's escape may be the only survivor of the entire colony, at least until they repopulated off-screen.
- The cave spiders in episode 14 appear on the poster based on the respective episode. This makes them the first non-stick figure characters aside from noogai3 and the ViraBots to appear in official merchandise.
- The cave spiders may have served as the inspiration for the behavior of the ViraBots during The Showdown, which may explain the immensely different behavior between their appearances in The Virus and The Showdown.
- A cave spider doesn't make another major appearance after Cave Spider Roller Coaster until Monster School, with the character Cavell.
- The Wither Skeletons seen in You Shall Not Pass - An Actual Short seem to be apart of the colony, not just their own army.
- Coincidentally yet fittingly enough, Minecraft possesses a mob known as the Spider Jockey, which is a Skeleton riding a Spider; meanwhile, the colony is composed of their stronger variants. In fact, a Cave Spider Wither Skeleton Jockey can be spawned in Minecraft.
