The Sentient Armor Stands are a group of armor stands brought to life by Yellow's staff and are the primary antagonists of AvM Shorts Season 5.

Appearance[]

The armor stands are simply that, armor stands clad in netherite armor, each one with a different armor trim and color to help each stand out from one another.

Each armor stand holds an item, usually a weapon or shield, that it uses as its primary combat tool.

Personalities[]

The armor stands were initially made and given life by Yellow to serve as item sorters and for combat training. However, once Yellow's staff went haywire, Hardcore mode was turned on, and the stands stopped respawning, they became terrified for their lives. Given the new circumstances, one of the stands realizes that decisive action is required to survive and orders the others to rise against the sticks due to one of them having died so the gang could test hardcore's lethality, making it seem like they're just expendable entities.

Because of these reasons and due to one of their own having been killed for expendable reasons, their hostility towards the stick figures is simply out of self-defense and fear for their own safety rather than malicious intent like the hostile mobs, believing that the sticks will inevitably kill them unless they take the offensive and kill them first.

As a team, the sextet of stands are well-coordinated, skilled in combat, rather intelligent, and reckless as well, as shown by their leader risking its life to take down the sticks despite knowing it won't respawn. They are also shown to be resourceful, using their surroundings to gain an advantage--like when they mounted horses to catch up to the sticks--and even building a base for themselves while the Gang and Purple were stuck on a spire, and keeping them there for days on end before choosing an appropriate time to strike, showing a clever use of battle strategy.

Biography[]

Hardcore Manhunt - Animation vs. Minecraft Shorts Episode 37[]

Yellow brought the armor stands to life with a command block staff to use as butlers. The glitch that sent them into hardcore difficulty by accident resulted in their panic and revolt against the Stick Gang. They chased the sticks on foot for some time before commandeering a trio of horses to speed themselves up a little bit.

After their near-death experience in the chasm, the Stick Gang climbed out...only to get attacked AGAIN by the armor stands. After the sticks built a massive column of cobblestone to get away from the armor stands, they camped out all night below them in order to keep them from escaping.

Eventually, they climbed up the column to defeat them personally, but the sticks managed to escape in the nick of time with some nearby Phantoms, but Quartz Spire climbed onto Green's Phantom and killed it, alongside Purple's.

In a failed, last-ditch effort to save their friends, the sticks and Quartz fell into a pile of snow.

Quartz's legs twitched and touched each other three times, so we know it's still alive.

Members[]

They do not have an official name, these names are based off their armour trim material, and the template their chestplate uses.

Abilities[]

The Sentient Armor Stands are proficient in combat with several weapons, albeit not on the level of the Stick Gang. This was shown far too obviously thanks to Green's easy defeat of all seven armor stands in the morning.

Trivia[]

  • Quartz Spire seems to be the leader of the group, as it took command when it ordered the others to commandeer the horses and was the most aggressive when the sticks escaped on the Phantoms.
  • In spite of their hostility towards the stick figures, they can't be considered evil due to their actions being out of fear for their lives and the need to survive.
    • Also, their circumstances are due to Yellow's overuse of the Staff and thus the stick figure can be held responsible for putting them in the situation they're in - especially since Green killed one of their own to test out hardcore's lethality, making it appear to the armor stands that their lives are of zero consequence to the stick figures.
    • This is a very similar scenario to victim's.
  • The Sentient Armor stands were conceptualized before the addition of Copper Golems in Minecraft, which Alan says he wishes he could've used instead.[1]
    • This is due to the Copper Golems sorting items in chests like how to Sentient Armor Stands do at the beginning of Hardcore Manhunt.
