This title took longer to come up with than usual, but I finally nailed it down. Not only does it have alliteration, but it also ties nicely into the chapter. As a quick recap, Purple and Magenta have just confessed their true feelings to each other after a visit to Maggie's house, and have officially become a couple. (See Chapter 15 for all the details) They are now off to break the news to their families. How would they respond? Is there any friction that would arise, or will it be smooth sailing? Answers will be provided.
As usual, all feedback is welcome, be it positive, negative, or neutral. Thank you all for your love and support! It is greatly appreciated! If anyone wants to be notified for the final chapters of this story, (it is winding down, sadly) let me know and you shall be a part of Perrito's Pinged Pals. Thank you all once again!
Pings:
===THIRD PERSON POV===
Purple flew loop-the-loops in the sky, practically over the moon. His gambit had paid off, and he had found someone who really liked him. He knew he was going to have to tell his dad. No doubt that he would also be excited for him, so after some jubilation, he flew back home, where his dad was sitting at the table working on his laptop, waiting for him to come home.
“Hey, Dad!” Purple said. King looked up at him.
“Someone’s excited. Did it go well?”
“It went better than I could’ve imagined. She likes me! She loves me!”
“Purple, that’s amazing!” King got up and hugged him. “Congratulations!”
“She even kissed me…” Purple admitted shyly.
“Awww, how cute! Do you want to celebrate tomorrow? It’s kinda late now.”
“Yeah, that sounds great.” He checked his phone, remembering a notification he got. “And I know just how to do it.”
“How?”
“This.” Purple showed King what Magenta sent him: the picture of him and his parents in the cherry forest. “Maggie made this for me. I was hoping we could get this framed.”
“Wow! That’s incredible! Is that me… and your mom?” King pointed at Pink.
“Yeah. Those are my parents, my true parents.”
“Purple, I’m so glad you think that of me, even though I’m not your biological dad.”
“You’re far more of a father to me than Dark Blue was. He never loved me the way you do.”
“Awww, thanks kiddo. Let’s get this framed, and get copies of it. It’s too beautiful. I can’t believe this isn’t in a museum.” King said.
“Sounds great.”
“As for now… it’s time for bed.”
“OK, Dad.” Purple said sarcastically while rolling his eyes.
“As I said, Purple, no matter how old you get, you’ll always be my little Prince.”
“You know, I truly wouldn’t have it any other way.” Purple replied. “Good night, Dad.”
“Good night, kiddo.” The two of them turned in for the night.
As for Magenta, after she sent Purple her art dedicated to him, she also told her parents about having found someone, that someone being Purple. Her parents were also quite excited and supportive, even Brick, and he promised to protect Magenta as well as he could. Magenta assured her dad that Purple was a great guy, and Brick agreed. He just wanted to ensure his daughter that he was going to keep her safe. “It’s what a father should be.” Brick said. “It’s who I should be.”
Magenta went to bed and woke up the next morning, still overflowing with excitement. After eating a quick breakfast, she returned to the drawing tablet in her room. She fully intended to do something for Purple’s friends, personalized for each member of the entire Stick Gang. For Red, she planned to create Red surrounded by puppies and kittens, along with cat ears and whiskers on Red’s head and added a puppy licking Red’s face. It was going to be so cute.
For Yellow, she wanted a digital theme, but also wanted to make it pop, rather than black with green ones and zeroes. She put Yellow inside a brightly-colored platformer video game with Redstone components as the platforms. If he loved electronics and tech, she wanted to make sure to incorporate him inside of it.
Green was big into music, which is itself an art. She imagined Green as the conductor to a majestic symphony of Note Blocks on a beautiful, moonlit stage. Fireworks exploded in the sky, and dozens of brightly colored music notes rising from the Note Blocks. She also wanted to make the stage itself artistic and well-designed to compliment Green’s building ability.
Blue loved cooking, potions and farming. This would be one of the easier ones, since flowers come in all shapes, sizes, and most importantly, colors. Having Blue stand in a field of rainbow-colored flowers seemed rather straightforward, but how to infuse cooking and potions into it? Perhaps put Blue at a table with delicious food, multi-colored potions and a field of flowers behind him. Great vibrant color both in the foreground and background.
Lastly, SC. He loves his family, and chilling with them. It’s a good thing they are several different hues, almost the colors of the rainbow. She had the Gang sitting on a couch enjoying each other’s company in rainbow order. Their arms were wrapped around each others’ shoulders. SC claimed to like simple things. Hopefully he would like a relatively simple picture.
With the plans laid, Magenta got busy with Red’s first. She was prepared for a lot of work, but this wasn’t unusual for her. She had a lot of time, and a lot of passion for it. ‘This was going to be great.’ she thought, but then something else crossed her mind, something Purple told her.
‘Have you tried doing something like this for Brick? I think he’d really like it.’
She was suddenly trying to think of something to do for her dad. If he is getting better, now might be the time to do something for him, but doubts lingered in her mind. What if this doesn’t work? She wanted to bring her family together, not tear them apart. Ever since he lost his job, he has been so critical of her art. Why would it change now?
Despite the doubts, she didn’t can the idea entirely. Instead, she wrote it down as a possibility for the future and got to work on the pieces for the Gang. Red’s was first, and she was most excited for this. They shared a love for cute animals, so Red was certainly in for a treat.
That same morning, King and Purple rose early, and Purple quickly texted the Gang about his exciting news, about finding a girlfriend. He was met with overwhelming love and support from them, especially Green, congratulating him and wishing him only the best. Purple was grateful for another reminder that he has people in his corner, his family, who are there for him. With that, he and his dad headed to the city to get copies of what Purple called, My Loving Family, the picture with him, Pink, and King in the cherry forest. They took it to a store that turns digital art into physical art. One of the employees, a bright blue stick named Sky, greeted them.
“Hello! How can I help you?”
“I was hoping you could make some copies of this.” Purple showed Sky his phone, with My Loving Family on the screen.
“Absolutely. Follow me.” Sky led Purple and King over to a machine that scans art on a screen and makes copies of it. “Any specific size or dimensions you want?” She gestured to a display showing the sizes, ranging from wallet-sized to picture frame to wall calendar.
“I like this one. What do you think, Purple?” King asked, pointing to the sample that could fit in a regular-sized picture frame. Purple examined them.
“Yeah. Could I also get one slightly smaller? That one will be for my bedroom.”
“Sure thing. How many of each?” Sky asked.
“Two regular, one small?” King asked Purple. He nodded in agreement. “Yeah, we’d like that.”
“Great. Set your phone there, and the image will get scanned and printed.” Purple complied, and the machine scanned it and printed the requested copies. Purple and King were even more in awe, now able to see all the little details more clearly. “Is there anything else I can do for you guys?”
“Can we get them framed, Dad?” Purple asked.
“Of course, kiddo.” King replied.
“It’ll cost extra.” Sky warned.
“That’s no big deal. We’re willing to pay.” King insisted.
“Alrighty.” Sky led them over to their frames. “Which one catches your eye?”
“Let’s do something simple. Let the art speak for itself.” Purple suggested. “Does this one look good, Dad?” He pointed to a relatively basic frame.
“Yeah, that looks good.” King agreed.
“I’ll get these framed for you.” Sky disappeared into the back and returned shortly after with the pictures in their matching frames, all of them fitting snugly. “Will that be all?”
“Yes. Thank you for your help.” King answered.
“No problem.” Sky led them to the front counter, where King began the process of paying for it. “You know, this is really incredible art. Where’d you get it?”
“A friend of mine made it. It’s an original work.” Purple explained.
“Your friend has awesome talent. Some friends of mine love Minecraft. They might like something like this.” Sky admitted. “Do they sell their art online or something?” Purple paused. He remembered a promise he made to Magenta in that same cherry forest that inspired that art.
‘I promise, I will do whatever I can to help,’ He thought. He said that, and now was his chance.
“Yeah, she does.” He told her the name of Magenta’s website. “She doesn’t just do Minecraft, she has a bunch of other pieces, too.”
“I might have to check it out for myself.” Sky said. “Thanks for the info.”
“No problem.” Purple turned to his dad. “Shall we head out and put these on our walls?”
“Sounds good, kiddo.” King answered. He then turned to Sky. “Thanks again for your help.”
“Thank you. Have a great day!” Sky said.
“You as well.” Purple replied. The two of them left and returned home, where they carefully hung their photos. Purple propped his own on his desk, next to another picture of him, his dad, and the Gang. He took a moment to gaze at both pieces, and tears filled his eyes. King knocked on his door.
“Purple?”
“C’mon in, Dad.” King entered his bedroom.
“It’s almost lunchtime. Are you hungry?”
“Not yet. I’m just… thinking.” King stood beside him and also looked at the picture, My Loving Family. He wrapped his arm around his son.
“Do you miss her?” Purple sighed deeply, tears starting to flow down his face.
“There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t think about Mom.” He admitted through tears.
“I know that feeling. Gold is on my mind frequently as well.” King admitted. “I still miss him greatly.”
“But then… I see you.” Purple and King said in unison, catching each other off guard. They looked at each other, surprised, but then looked back at the picture.
“We may not be replacements for what we lost…” Purple began.
“But we’re exactly what we need for each other.” King finished. “I hope whenever you see this picture, you remember how much I love you.” He kissed Purple on top of the head.
“Thanks, Dad. I love you too.”
